The Kuwait Dive Team with the Environmental Protection Society succeeded in removing fishing nets stuck in the Coral Reefs in the middle of Bneida marine area. The Team’s Divers succeeded in rescuing sea creatures, as well as fish, despite the nets that extended for 200 metres stuck in Coral Reefs which were at a depth of nine metres from the surface. The nets are weighed more than half-a-ton. For maintaining the environment and its sea creatures, as well as complying with marine laws, the Team warns fishermen and net users against approaching Coral Reefs. This project is within public action carried out by the Team aimed at removing waste and fishing nets from the Coral Reefs which cause complete destruction for the marine environment. The Team achieved in successfully completing innumerous operations in this regard at many Coral Reef locations such as Kobar, Um Al-Maradem, Qaroh Islands, Arefjan, Geleaa and Taylor besides other locations. With sincere regards and appreciation. July 16th, 2007 |
